Prototype for SBTVD
Among the necessary or desirable characteristics of a 3D Museum's System, we can highlight: object's realistic visualization, safe digital preservation, high degree of interactivity during the visualization, easy utilization for different users, high availability and compatibility. In this context, IMAGO had developed some prototypes to visualize the obtained results.
The first prototype was an application developed for the Brazilian Digital Television's System (in Portuguese, Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão Digital - SBTVD). This project is being conducted by Brazil's Ministry of Communications (MC), and being developed by several research institutions in Brazil. Among then there is the Federal University of Paraná under the coordination of the professor Luciano Silva, from the Department of Informatics.
The main goal of this application is the development of a 3D objects visualization system, with high degree of interactivity and for low cost equipments. It was then idealized a 3D museum as a way to show in practice this IMAGO group's initiative. The results of this prototype and its future applications in commercial, entertaining, education and culture systems were integrated to the reports of the SBTVD to the MC. For confidentiality matters, demanded by SBTVD, the application details and further results cannot be presented here yet.

A video of the 3D Museum's application running effectively in a Digital TV System can be watched bellow. In this beta version of the application, the movement on the Museum has been conditioned to 30 degrees of freedom between the views. The video's idea is to show the created museum, the degree of interactivity and its potentials.

Curitiba Cultural Foundation Collection
The application of the 3D modeling on the preservation of cultural and natural heritage is a necessity for many foundations. In this context, it has been developed, in Partnership with IMAGO, a prototype of a 3D visualization system for artworks of the Curitiba Cultural Foundation (Fundação Cultural de Curitiba - FCC).
With the consolidation of this partnership, the digitalization of the FCC's heritage will be possible, providing fundamental material to the heritage's cataloguing and organization activities. The digital artworks will also serve to guide studies and researches about the artist's work, and to help future preservation activities.
Some images of the visualization system, with the virtual 3D models and pictures of the real objects from the FCC's heritage, are shown bellow. The left side images are the real object's photos; the right ones are the virtual models. The images may be with different viewpoints/perspectives and different illumination sources. The IMAGO group thanks to the FCC for the images and access to the heritage.
