History

The IMAGO Research Group is with the Department of Informatics of the Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR). It was founded by Prof. Olga Regina Pereira Bellon in 1996. objectives The objectives of the IMAGO Research Group are: 1) instruct undergraduate and graduate students in research and development; 2) transfer cientific and technologic knowledge; and 3) develop softwares with applications in culture, education, social inclusion, health and security.

Research Fields

The IMAGO Research Group has been working on projects related to computer vision, image processing and computer graphics, such as digital preservation of cultural and natural assets, virtual museum, face biometrics, newborn identification, medical images and accessibility tools.

The research projects of the IMAGO Research Group are supported by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN), the National Education and Research Network (RNP)National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Level Personnel (CAPES), the Research and Projects Financing Company (FINEP), the Araucária Foundation and the Foundation of the Universidade Federal do Paraná (FUNPAR).
